We Know Jeff Flores
Many of us have been around Jeff Flores if we were involved in any charity event or community service event . Whether taking part in a jog-a-thon or serving the needy on holidays or standing up to those who kept our schools closed, Jeff Flores has been fighting side by side with local officials, nonprofits, and private businesses to improve the quality of life for our community for decades.
He currently serves as Chief of Staff to Kern County District 3 Supervisor Mike Maggard. Previously he worked as Manager of Government Affairs and Communities for Rio Tinto Minerals, representing the company among government, industry, and community stakeholders.
He also managed the Borax Educational Scholarship Foundation assisting many students with access to higher education and community philanthropy. He served as a Kern County Planning Commissioner overseeing land use and development projects promoting jobs and a favorable business climate. He was a Director at the Kern Economic Development Corporation fostering economic development.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Kern Health Systems improving healthcare for Kern County residents. Jeff serves as a Director for ‘Leadership Bakersfield’ with the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce developing our next generation of young leaders.
Jeff has respect for what a good education can provide for a lifetime of success, and he believes every child can learn regardless of circumstance or neighborhood and wants every student to have the same opportunities to achieve and reach their fullest potential. He is proudly serving as Trustee to the Kern High School District advancing education, serving our students, parents, and our community. The position has had its difficulties fighting back at Sacramento’s untenable mandates.
For fun, Jeff is Vice President of the Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation promoting sports and education among youth. With his own family, Jeff engages several times each week volunteering on a project that needs an extra hand.
Jeff’s family are generations of people who sought the American Dream and realized that dream. His roots run deep and start and end with family and faith.
Jeff received his BA in Political Science at the University of San Diego with a concentration in International Relations, and Master of Public Policy and Administration from CSU Bakersfield.
